Research and Development is primarily focused on determining what is possible within the constraints of available hardware rather than creating genuine additions for an upcoming game.

This idea obviously never made it into the final release of Ocarina of Time. In the prior interview, Goddard suggested that this area is an early conception of Hyrule Castle, though it lacks any visual adornments to identify it as such. It bares a passing resemblance to the crystal switches Link must occasionally activate, but the shape and textures are significantly different. Those familiar with Ocarina of Time will likely recognize the textures in both the beginning and destination locations, but the teleportation catalyst itself doesn’t seem to represent anything present in the finished game. Rather than the window or partition most were probably imagining, the first-person camera travels through a spinning rhombohedron into a new hallway. Visually, the footage does little to defy the Portal comparison.
